It was just before dusk and the brunette sat near the lake looking out. The stars were starting to come out as the sun was slowly drifting down behind the trees far off in the distance. Pulling her cloak closer to her so the cold wouldn’t be let in to her warmth underneath. She didn’t look like a typical Slytherin but the second born to the Black Family it was no denying that she was indeed a Slytherin. Unless she was her cousin Sirius, who was the only Black Family member to be put in Gryffindor, or what Dromeda preferred to say any other house but Slytherin. But then again why disown him because he wasn’t put in Slytherin? Sometimes Dromeda wonder how odd her family really was.
Her mind drifted to her cousin, she had no problem with Sirius. In fact, despite the fact everyone hated him she didn’t. Biting her lower lip and pulling up her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Then again, Dromeda was odd herself. But since she was placed in Slytherin, she didn’t get too much grief for being nice and not so much into the dark arts. And her view points on pureblood, well she kept that a secret and let people believe what they wanted. She believed in truth muggleborns were no different than purebloods. She always wondered how witches and wizards came to be. Secretly Dromeda thought they came from muggles. But she would never say that out loud.
Clearing her throat she sat up straight and turned towards the basket that sat nearby. Since she hadn’t gone to dinner with the rest of her classmates she had the house elves prepare something for her to snack on. Dromeda needed her alone time once in awhile. Sometimes it got too much hearing how much hatred there was even among students. Also the talk of the Halloween Party was everywhere. Dromeda didn’t think she would be going. Silly to think that one of the Black Sisters was thinking of not going to the Halloween Party. Who would she go with? Her mind went to one boy and a sudden redness came to her cheeks. Just thinking of it made her think of how much her sisters would hate her. How much her family would hate her. Hiding her face from her embarrassment though no one was around to see it and to hide the little smile that came to her lips at the sudden thought of a certain boy.
After a few moments she poked her head out and breathed in the fresh air around her. Reaching for the basket she pulled out a bottle of pumpkin juice and took a little sip from it. It still tasted fresh and still cold though it had been packed hours ago. It wasn’t until she heard the sounds of a leaf being step on and she turned around to see who was approaching her. But the sun was almost set and it was growing dark. Even the lights far off in the distance offered no real light to see. Instead Dromeda relied on her hearing but when she didn’t hear any sounds of leaves being step on she came to the conclusion that it might just be a forest animal that decided to come to the lake for water.
Cringing her nose she thought of the squid that lived out in those water and what creatures would even dare venture close to the home of such a terrifying and creepy looking squid. Taking out some candles that were in the basket she set them around her and using her wand she light each one to give her some light to see. Finally after everything was done she heard the noise again and she turned her head towards the sound. “Hello?” Wondering if it was an animal or a person this time. “Who is there?” Dromeda was hoping that it was a animal that would come out of the darkness into the light that now surrounded her. She wasn’t scared, no in fact, she was more curious then anything. Dromeda sat there in silence waiting now.
