OKAY, SO GIVE US THE BASICS !
"ER, HELLO THERE. I AM ASHLEY MICHAEL KNIGHT BUT YOU CAN JUST CALL ME ASH, ASHLEY, KNIGHT, OR ANY VARIATION OF MY NAMES YOU CAN THNK OF. I HAVE BEEN WREAKING HAVOC FOR SIXTEEN YEARS AND I DON'T REALLY PLAN ON STOPPING SOON. I GRACED THIS WORLD WITH MY PRESENCE ON DECEMBER 14TH. I BRANDISH A 11 INCH WILLOW AND UNICORN HAIR WAND, I KNOW YOU ARE JEALOUS. I AM IN THE HOUSE OF HUFFLEPUFF, 6TH YEAR, AND DAMN PROUD. I WAS BORN WITH MUGGLE BLOOD, NOT THAT IT REALLY MATTERS. SO YEAH, ARE WE DONE?"
SORRY, NOT QUITE. SO WHAT ARE AND AREN'T YOU INTO ?
"You know, when you think about it, it's sort of funny that when someone asks you what your likes and dislikes are, you can only name a few... Think of all the millions of things in the world that you could possible say, and think of the ones you pick... And that must mean that everything else in the universe you're just indifferent toward! What a funny way of thinking about it. Humans are really picky creatures if you look at it from that angle, aren't they? And I think-- oh, right, sorry. I get off subject sometimes. Er, anyway... what was the question? Right! Likes and dislikes. Those. Well, erm. Hmm. Things I like. I like... anything that feels nice against my skin, like soft hair or satin or silk or velvet or fingertips or cool water or sunshine. I suppose I like all of those things just fine. I like being outside, very much. I prefer it to being inside, which is why I think I like Herbology so much. Even though we are inside, I know that, but when there are plants there it sort of gives the illusion that we're outside learning. I wish all of our classes could be outside... I think that if I weren't always shut up in the castle I would do much better at learning, and I think a lot of the other stu-- Yes, I'm sorry, I'm rambling again, I know...
A-Anyway. I like people, in general. I like watching people, too, and finding out how many different types of people there are. Infinite amounts, really, since every person is an individual, but we people do tend to group others together; it probably makes things easier that way, I don't know, but the point- I come to one of those every once in a while, but not often, you'll find - the point is that I think people are fascinating. So I like them. I like anything that can hold my interest for more than a second, really, and let me tell you: that's not very many things. As you can tell, interviewer, I'm really easily distracted and I just go off on tangents all the time. It annoys some people, but the ones who are my friends and have been such for six years now, they're used to it and they contribute to it once in a while. I like thinking about things, I like looking at things from peculiar angles. I'm not saying I'm some kind of deep thinking, no; leave that to the Ravenclaws. I think I just muse a lot. I haven't got the smarts of a Ravenclaw, to be sure, so a lot of the time my musing is to no end.
There are a lot of other things I like, but at the rate I'm going I don't think I'll ever give you a good idea of them, to be honest. That reminds me! Of things I don't like. I don't like dishonesty. I don't think lying in any situation is excusable. Not even white lies, if there's any such thing (I myself don't believe in them and I never impart them; I always tell the truth, one hundred percent of the time, and I wish people would do the same for me, although I would be kidding myself if I thought they were). I don't like it when people are judgmental or mean, or when they openly tease others. Basically just any cruelty in general, I don't like. I've sort of been subject to a good amount of it since coming to Hogwarts, considering I'm Muggle born- among other things-, so of course, having felt how isolating it is to be made fun of like that, I would never wish it on someone else. I don't like spicy food, or stuff that's too chocolatey. I'm a really picky eater, and that always annoyed mum and dad, but it doesn't cause much of a problem here at Hogwarts considering the variety of food we're given at every meal. Hmm, what else don't I like. don't like my height; I think I'm far too tall, and I dislike towering over people, but it happens considering I'm close to six feet tall. I could bend in half and not be shorter than some of the first years that come in here, and it amazes me that I was ever that short. Really, again, there are a lot of other things I dislike, but I can't get to them all here... what sort of idea is it going to give you of my character, anyway, the things I like and dislike..? If you want to know about me you should just talk to me in a normal fashion. Formal interview not being the normal fashion."
HOW ER... INTERESTING. EVER LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR OF ERISED ?
"I've never seen the Mirror of Erised, and I don't think many people have, but... Well, it shows your greatest desires, doesn't it? I suppose mine would be something modest, like a family. I grew up with a wonderful and loving family myself, so I would want that in the future, with someone I love. Although the idea of marriage is quite impossible, considering my, ah... persuasion toward the male sex, but just to be bound to someone with your own words, and not by the law's or God's, is just fine with me. I've always wanted a child, doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl. When I sit down and think about it, which doesn't happen that often, to be honest, I think of how nice it would be to have a little baby... Because a little baby loves you unconditionally, without question, and there isn't much that can change the love that a child feels for you, deep down. It just seems... nice. The idea that a little boy or little girl loves you without really knowing you, without judging your character, without putting you up to the pressures of making acquaintances or making friends. Must sound weird, what I'm saying, huh... I don't know. Just something I've thought about once or twice. Also I wouldn't mind having a moderately good job when I'm older, but where and doing what I have no idea. I know, I know; I should have some kind of idea of what I'm going to do with my life, since I'll be out of Hogwarts soon enough, but I really don't. My parents don't have a problem with that- mostly because they're ignorant of any job opportunities for wizards, considering they're both Muggles. I'll figure something out, I'm sure, but I'm not going to rush anything. I'm only just starting my life, after all, so what's the hurry?"
WHAT MAKES YOU SHAKE IN YOUR BOOTS ?
"My biggest fear, easily, is blindness. I know that must seem strange, that I'm not afraid of something much worse, but ever since I was little I've been afraid of becoming blind. It's because I had a friend in primary school who had to get cataract surgery on both eyes- rare in a child, but it happened to him- and he was practically blind before they did it, and he was so hopeful going in... but something went wrong with one of his eyes, and instead of fixing it they made it worse, and he couldn't see out of that eye. He wore an eyepatch around for a long time, too, as the failed surgery healed. I don't know... I was young and it scared me, and it stuck with me. I'm always paranoid when my vision goes blurry, or I have something in my eye. It just hurts my chest when I think about losing my sight. I can't imagine going through life without seeing anything, without comprehending color and contrast and brightness. It also might have something to do with my fear of the dark. That fear doesn't come from anything traumatic from my childhood or anything; it's just a general fear that I think a lot of people have. I've been getting better with it, recently, and I've even been able to sleep in total darkness quite a few times, but I always have my wand close just in case I need to cast lumos if the fear gets to me. Other things I'm afraid of are... hmm, just normal ones, I suppose, like death or losing someone I love. But everything should be afraid of those things, shouldn't they?"
EVEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME GOOD QUALITIES, RIGHT ?
"Kind, compassionate, hard-working, loyal, good-hearted, morally sound, empathetic, approachable. I'll elaborate later. Basically just the nicest guy around."
AND IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS YOU HAVE YOUR BAD, HUH ?
"Somewhat scatter-brained, tends to stutter and ramble, easy to walk all over, a bit shy and nervous, not the smartest boy around, painfully modest, easily used and taken advantage of, blahblah. Some people just treat him like shit because he's the nicest guy around. More coming when my brain isn't melty.."
LET'S GET DIRTY. WHAT TURNS YOU ON ?
"Oh. Well. That was an abrupt turn in the conversation, wasn't it? But I'm not shy about that sort of stuff, so. Things that turn me on. Hmm. As far as physical things go, I'm a sucker for a pair of big, dark eyes, and I love long eyelashes, and pretty lips. A bright smile is always a plus, too, and a guy needs to be really tall. My height, ideally, or a little taller, although that's a hard thing to find. Fit would be nice, but as long as the face is a pleasant one I won't gripe. Personality-wise, I think I like people that are a bit more severe than me... not severe with a negative connotation, but... Well, it's hard to explain. I guess someone's who's harder than I am, more decisive, less wishy-washy and more determined. As scatter-brained as I can be, I don't think I want to spend the rest of forever with someone who's just the same. A strong sense of self is also important to me, and someone who would be unwavering in their ideals and morals. A sense of humor is a must, the ability to laugh at himself would also be nice... I don't know, I'm not really all that picky, and the traits I listed would just be extra nice to see. I haven't met anyone that's absolutely captured my fancy in my sixteen years, so when he comes along, I'll let you know what he's like, and I'll let you know what about him turns me on: deal? Deal."
DO YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY ?
"Yeahhhh, I'll do this later."
WHERE YA FROM, BY THE WAY ?
"Blah. IDK. I'll do this later too."
THE DEMENTORS ARE HERE. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ?
"Coming soon to applications near you!"
BETTER GET UP A PATRONUS. WHAT ARE YOU REMEMBERING ?
"Fuckthis. >:["
