OKAY, SO GIVE US THE BASICS !
"ER, HELLO THERE. I AM CAI TASGALL CARR BUT YOU CAN JUST CALL ME CAI or TASS. I HAVE BEEN WREAKING HAVOC FOR 38 YEARS AND I DON'T REALLY PLAN ON STOPPING SOON. I GRACED THIS WORLD WITH MY PRESENCE ON March 12, 1937. I BRANDISH A 6IN HOLLYWOOD WAND WITH A UNICORN TAIL CORE WAND, I KNOW YOU ARE JEALOUS. I WAS IN THE HOUSE OF RAVENCLAW, GRADUATED 1954, AND DAMN PROUD. I WAS BORN WITH PURE BLOOD, NOT THAT IT REALLY MATTERS. SO YEAH, ARE WE DONE?"
SORRY, NOT QUITE. SO WHAT ARE AND AREN'T YOU INTO ?
“Hello everyone, I thought I’d introduce myself first. I’m Cai Tasgall Carr. I am one of those guys who fell in love with a broom at a very young age, and has been flying ever since. I love the feeling of wind through my hair, and the adrenaline rush that comes with looking down to the ground. I’m not a big fan of playing Quidditch, but I do enjoy watching games. I also love to go for walks along the creek, and through the forest. This isn’t only the forest near Hogwarts, but the one near my childhood home as well. I’m not too fond of growing plants and things, as almost every plant I’ve ever had has ended up dead. Supprisingly though, my faithful familiar, Swallow, a midsized mutt who was turned a mottled shade of grey and black, has stayed alive. Ah, here I am rambling off topic again. I like the smell after a heavy rain, especially in the pine forests. It smells so fresh, so new. I also like firegazing and other more obscure types of Divination, my favorite school subject.”
“Things I do not like, hmmm, they may be very few, but my dislike for them is very strong. I do not like people who decide that class is worthless, and that they have better things to do with my time. Sometimes I wish that there were more severe concequences that I could give them. I do not appreciate people, especially students, who do not try to the best of their ability. School is an interesting thing, where you’re suppose to learn stuff, but some people think it should be just a waste of time. I disagree. I do not appreciate the cold, as it seems to chill my very bones. Oh, I absoulutely will not eat, or ever claim to like artachokes.”
HOW ER... INTERESTING. EVER LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR OF ERISED ?
"My goals started with graduating from Hogwarts and moving on to a higher school that would prepair me to teach my favorite subject, Divination. Luckly for me I found such a school shortly after graduating from Hogwarts, and enrolled quickly. Oddly enough, after I graduated from there, I floated around a bit. Working for a shop here, doing some work for the ministry as well. Then I decided to apply for a teaching job back at Hogwarts. After my application was accepted I went to the school for my interview. Everything went as planned. My dreams for the future are first and foremost, to do a good job teaching the students who come through the school. I would like to someday become the head of Ravenclaw, the house I was in while I was in school. Someday I would also like to do more than just divination. I would like to make a difference. "
WHAT MAKES YOU SHAKE IN YOUR BOOTS ?
"Things I’m afraid of. I’d have to say, most of the creatures in the CoMC class plans. They’re cool to watch from a rather far distance, but not so great up close. I’m afraid of loosing my family. I don’t really know why, but I am. Even though they aren’t a really big part of my life anymore, I would hate to loose them. I’d have to say that my worst fear is going blind. Why you might ask? Because divination is much easier with sight, and even though I have experienced using divination without my eyes, I fear the hardships which come with becoming blind."
EVEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME GOOD QUALITIES, RIGHT ?
"The first would probably be honesty. I have a lot of trouble being dishonest, even if it is with myself. I am a very good spell weaver, and very good at divinations. These abilities are not the product of sheer talent, but of long hours of study. I am also a very kind person, as I enjoy helping others. It makes everyone involved feel better."
AND IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS YOU HAVE YOUR BAD, HUH ?
"Probably my biggest weakness is my soft spoken, soft hearted nature. Many people decide to take advantage of it and I have never really done anything about it. The second would probably be the fact I freeze up around women around my age. It’s pathetic I know, but it happens all the time. Also I am set in my path, I have a lot of trouble lying or trying to be deceitful in any way. It just doesn’t work for me, I guess I’m too much a ‘good guy’."
LET'S GET DIRTY. WHAT TURNS YOU ON ?
"Um, this is an awkward topic. I’m a pretty general guy, but one thing that makes me look twice, but probably never get up the courage to actually say something about it, would be someone who can carry themselves with calm dignity. I don’t like women who think that they can just rely on themselves and no one else. Honestly it makes me feel useless. I’m a rather soft-spoken guy most of the time, and I usually don’t go out of my way to pay a lot of attention to women. Someday I’ll find the perfect one, but I’m not really in a hurry to do so."
DO YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY ?
"Well, here’s the family photo. That’s my mom, Muriel, holding my baby sister Gwen. Gwen loved to follow us older boys around once she got older. That’s me, standing right in the middle, trying to fend off the younger terror that stood next to me. His name is Walter. He’s been both my best friend and worst enemy. We use to be inseparable, but now hardly speak to each other. And back there in the middle is Dad. His name was Pelaus. He was the greatest father I could have ever asked for, but he died a long time ago."
WHERE YA FROM, BY THE WAY ?
"Who me? I was born in northern Scotland, but have traveled all over England and Ireland with my father and his work. We started off in the family manor which is pretty far to the north, but as I said, we moved a lot. Summers spent at the manor were amazing. Grasslands stretched for miles, and there were no muggles to see my brother and me race around on our broomsticks, always trying to prove that we were the faster of the two. The houses in town were much less interesting, much more modern, more muggle like."
THE DEMENTORS ARE HERE. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ?
"It was after my last year at Hogwarts, and I got a letter which contained very bad news. My father had been killed in a accident involving a drunk wizard and a few muggles. It was very traumatic, but what was worse was the funeral. They had an open casket viewing and my mother firmly requested, or in her terms ordered, my brother and I to look in. My worst memory is seeing my father’s pale, ashen face, eyes closed, dead to the world. The realization hit me soon after that I would never get to really say goodbye, never get to tell him I loved him one more time."
BETTER GET UP A PATRONUS. WHAT ARE YOU REMEMBERING ?
"My best memory would probably have to be the day that I was given my first wand. My father took me and my younger brother to Diagon Ally and to Olivander’s. There we went through the process of finding the appropriate wand for me. I remember the look of pride in my father’s eyes when I finally found the perfect wand. I wouldn’t trade anything for that look of pride in my father’s eyes.”
AND YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR BEING PART OF THE STAFF HERE AT HOGWARTS ?
"First, I am a graduate of Hogwarts and I went on into a school that furthered my learning into a subject of my choice, and I chose divination. I was informed that your staff was in need of a new divination teacher and I decided that it was time for me to try to come back to the job that I have always wanted to do. Thank you for considering my application."

Cai yawned as he woke up late in the morning. One good thing about having afternoon classes was that he no longer had to wake up at the crack of dawn. He reached over and stroked Swallow, his long haired mutt who had been turned a mottled shade of black from some past spell that had gone awry. He glanced out the window and to the sun, which was higher than he had first thought. Quickly he grabbed his teacher’s robes and got dressed while headed toward the door to his room, Swallow followed behind dragging his shoes. He softly thanked his friend and pulled on his shoes quickly before stopping to glance in the mirror. His hair was in a great mess, sticking out at odd angles, probably from his mistake of going to sleep with wet hair, and his beard had grown again. He couldn’t get away with not shaving today. He sighed and glanced to Swallow who cocked his head, looking up at his master with his dark brown eyes. Cai sighed again and started to shave, being as quick and as careful as possible. Finally he was ready to walk out the door and to class, dressed in a dark blue long sleeved peasant’s shirt and black leather pants, a usual day’s attire for him. He glanced to Swallow, “You ready for another day of classes, brother? Eh, it won’t be that bad.” He started down the hall with the dog close by his side. He had gone to great pains to make sure no one knew about the fading of his eyes, no one knew except the Headmaster, that Cai was slowly going blind. Swallow knew, of course, and he compensated for his master’s lack of sight, slightly steering him this way and that through the crowded halls. Cai would not be late today, hopefully. He hated being late to classes he was suppose to be teaching. It almost seemed counterproductive. He sighed and walked to the door of his classroom. Luckily the door was unlocked, for the professor had forgotten his keys. He walked in, noticing that several of his students were already seated, others were standing around, waiting for class to start, and still others were not present. A smile passed across his face as he drew his wand and cast a simple replicating spell over the sheet of notes that he had written for the class the night before, mostly so they would not get lost in the lecture.
